May 13th,2012   The fishing season has opened with mixed results,  Walleys are running deeper than everyone expected and seem to be a little scattered.  The weather has been nice, a little bit breezy, but sunny and temps in the 60's.  There were some walleyes brought in yesterday and I cleaned some pike too.   Last month I closed on the purchase of Lakeview Resort on the south central shore of lake Kabetogama.  It is just nine miles west of Sunset Resort here on the east end of the lake.  We are changing the name of the resort to Voyageurs Sunrise Resort.  We will offer the same friendly service, affordable rates, clean cabins, and relaxing vacations that you have come to expect here at Sunset.  For you pet owners, Sunrise Resort accepts pets in our cabins.  There are eight cabins at the resort ranging from two to four bedrooms and boat rentals too.  If  you are looking for a vacation on the lake, Sunrise will be the place to stay!   The cabins will have all new beds and appliances in them and new ceilings too.  Randy O'Brien will be back again this year as manager and your host too.  Everyone that has met Randy has great things to say about him.  I will be there a couple of days a week and Wayne will also be doing guided fishing trips from there.  I am really looking forward to the new adventure and meeting new friends.      I am getting a lot of calls for this year's fishing season so if you are thinking about a trip for this year and want to book a certain cabin or time, it would not hurt to book early.   Wayne is back  as our guide and most of the rest of the crew will be back too.  Wayne and I are working on some packages that include fishing along with sightseeing.  Kettle Falls, Crane Lake, and the Ellsworth Rock Gardens will be the destinations with fishing and dining included in the trip. Come see us!   Thanks!   John
