January 23rd, 2012. The park service has opened and staked all the lake trails in the park except the chain of lakes trail. This year they have opened an ice road on Lake Kabetogama between the Kabatagoma and Ash River visitor's centers. We got about 10 to 12 inches of new snow yesterday and last night. This will really make a huge difference in the trails. The groomers will be running and conditions wiil be great. I am going to have all my cabins at half price again for this winter, the economy is still sluggish and for a lot of people, a winter vacation will be hard to afford. I hope this will help both of us. I am getting calls already for next year so if you are thinking about a trip for next year and want to book a certain cabin or time, it would not hurt to book early. Wayne will be back next year as our guide and most of the rest of the crew will be back too. Wayne and I are working on some packages that include fishing along with sightseeing. Kettle Falls, Crane Lake, and the Ellsworth Rock Gardens will be the destinations with fishing and dining included in the trip. Let it snow! Thanks! John
