Opener is May 10, 2008. Call to get your reservations for the 2007 fishing season! Some weeks are full, so don't hesitate. 2007 showed a consistent year for walleye limits throughout the summer and some very fun smallmouth fishing. Canadian border waters are just 7 miles from the resort!

Catch walleye, northern pike, smallmouth bass, crappie and sturgeon while taking in the spectacular beauty of Lakes Kabetogama, Namakan, Sand Point or Crane.  Fish Rainy Lake at Kettle Falls Hotel & Dam, just 18 miles from Sunset Resort, via mechanical portage.

Northern: 17 lbs, 8 oz;  Walleye: 5 lbs, 12 oz

Crappie: 1 lb, 10 oz;  Smallmouth: 4 lbs, 8 oz

Fishing spots within 10 miles are endless! The east end of Kabetogama offers you Lost Bay, Wolf Island, Blind Ash Bay, Larkin, Pine, Mud Bay and many, many more. West end of Namakan has Old Dutch Bay, Moose Bay, Hoist Bay, Junction Bay, Kohler Bay, and islands like Cemetary, Big Sky, Kubel, Strawberry, Namakan and many more, all close to Canadian waters. If you like to venture out for a longer day, there are miles and miles of shoreline to fish and over 200 campsites to enjoy a shorelunch!

We offer boat and motor rental, boat launching, as well as bait, gas, ice, groceries and McKenzie Lake maps. Licenses can be purchased at Jim's Ash Trail Store located on Hwy 53 and the Ash River Trail.
